I could have tried to extend the central section but I thought it looked better to attach it directly so it would look more embedded. Next I began thinking about attaching the cockpit section. I realized that I could make the transition from the sideways submersible smooth so I first set that up. The construct was not solid, but this was where I wanted to go. If you do that it will hold, although just barely. Conceptually it was just a matter of taking the four yellow plates and positioning the sideways studded bricks where I needed them. That was not an easy thing to achieve with the limited parts available. And for no specific reason at all I believed it need a box with studs on alle six sides. It came when I believed the best way to make something work was by making a central box-like section. With Lego it can be just something to enjoy if you have time to waste. Finding the right approach which will give the solution you need is a game of endurance. Doing so proved complicated as I lacked the right parts to create right thing. Early on I had decided to put the submersibles sideways because that seemed to be the best way to connect them. There were various approaches which all didn't work. From there I would try to find ways on how to combine it with the two submersibles. I first made a basic version of the cockpit section, simply to see if I would be satisfied with the shape. With so many parts left I had the idea that they might be connected but I had no idea yet how. They were relatively basic but I was pleased that I had been able to give them a different aesthetic because creating a really different variation is not easy as I have already made so many. When I began with this model I only had an idea for the two identical submersibles that now form the extended sides of the model.
